Another tax season may be behind us, but that doesn’t mean your work is done. In fact, staying on top of upcoming tax dates throughout the year is one of the best ways to avoid penalties, stay organized, and even save money.

As we move into the second half of the year, here are the key tax deadlines you should mark on your calendar—especially if you're self-employed or filing on extension.

Upcoming Estimated Tax Payment Deadlines

If you’re self-employed or pay quarterly estimated taxes, make sure these due dates are on your radar:

  • June 15, 2024 – Q2 estimated payment due

  • September 15, 2024 – Q3 estimated payment due

  • January 15, 2025 – Q4 estimated payment due

Missing these deadlines could result in penalties or interest, so timely payments are crucial.

🧾 Personal Tax Return on Extension?

If you filed an extension for your 2024 personal tax return, your new deadline is October 15, 2025. That gives you a few extra months to get everything in order—but don’t wait until the last minute.

Bonus Tip: If you're self-employed, this deadline also gives you more time to contribute to a SEP IRA for the 2024 tax year. Making a contribution by 10/15/25 can reduce your taxable income and increase your retirement savings. It’s a win-win.

🏢 Business Tax Extensions: Partnerships & S-Corps

If you run a business and filed an extension for your partnership or S-Corp tax return, remember that those returns are due by September 15, 2025.
