How To Make A Vacation A Tax Deduction

If you like to travel and if you travel for business, this is for you...

Here's how you can make vacations a tax deduction.

First the point of the trip has to be for business. But that doesn't mean you can't have any personal time while on that trip.

If you're traveling for business and you decide to either extend the trip or take some personal time during the trip you can still write off part of the trip.

You'll want to make sure that the majority of the trip was for business because if the majority was for business you can write off 100% of the cost of the airfare to get there. If the majority of the trip was personal, unfortunately none of the airfare is deductible.

For the rest of your expenses like hotels and meals, you can write off the business percent.

And if you go on a business trip and it feels like a personal vacation, even better, because then 100% of the cost of things like airfare and hotels are deductible.

Let me know if you have any questions, and be sure to keep a record of your expenses for tax time!
